Ms. Schaeffer focuses her practice on helping families in transition. With her vast experience and understanding of families and the law, she assists and guides her clients through adoption, custody, divorce, estate planning and administration, guardianship, name changes, protection from abuse, special education and special needs trusts. She also works with small businesses, assisting them with business formation, real estate transfers and Medicaid planning.
Prior to joining Winter & Duffy Law, Ms. Schaeffer represented abused and neglected children. While primarily representing children in Protection from Abuse matters as the PFA Staff Attorney at Montgomery Child Advocacy Project, Ms. Schaeffer also represented children in dependency matters in Juvenile Court.
Ms. Schaeffer has years of expertise in helping clients through custody mediation, working in the past with Montgomery Conflict Mediation Center as a Program Director/Trainor.
In addition to practicing law, Ms. Schaeffer is an active member of her community. She’s served as a frequent volunteer at church, school, and scouts. A recent empty nester, Ms. Schaeffer currently enjoys book club meetings with friends, working on her golf game with her husband and learning the art of beekeeping.
